Diet Pills Can Deceive

Have you ever looked at a bottle of diet pills and see the words “all natural” or “herbal supplements”? This is pretty common language on diet pills and other supposed supplements that are supposed to help you with your physical image or health. But these words may tell us more about what’s NOT in the bottle than what is actually in them.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) does not regulate “herbal supplements” as they are not intended to have any effect on health or well-being. However, despite this many diet pills and the like make claims of being able to help, and even cure health problems despite them not being approved by the FDA at all.

I guess these companies feel that their lack of approval by the FDA gives them the go-ahead to make any claims they want as most people don’t seem to care that the bottles also say “these claims have not be evaluated by the FDA”.

The diet pill industry is particularly dangerous in this way as the recent history of Ephedrine, Meridia and the like which were linked to severe heart ailments and other forms of circulatory distress, often causing severe illness and death. Lawsuits are still pending for many patients of these products.

If you have questions about a product, by all means do you research before you buy! Contact the Better Business Bureau and the FDA if you would like additional information on the company or product that you are investigating.
