Finding a Good EMR (Electronic Medical Recordkeeping) for Your Doctor Office or Clinic

Posted on May 24th, 2010 in Health Care Facilities and Services by NewsCrawler

There are so many different ways of maintaining medical records today that it can be difficult to decide what method is going to be best in the long term. Most doctor offices and clinics rotate EMR (Electronic Medical Recordkeeping) systems about once every three to five years. Generally, medical professionals will abandon one out of every five EMR systems that they use within just a few years.

Recently, in the last 10 years, there has been an increase in switching EMR systems due to technological changes, such as email, phone texting, and iPhones and other smart phone technologies. Old EMR systems that were designed for phone call messages, hard copy filing systems, and faxes no longer worked. Patient filing systems also needed to take into account a larger variety of note taking systems (including handwritten, dictated, email, PDA, sketches or drawings, text messages, and faxes).

However, changing EMR (Electronic Medical Recordkeeping) systems really often leads to lapses in productivity and can even result in some medical records getting lost or not transferring over to the new system. It is important, therefore, that when you switch over to a new EMR system you research it carefully and make sure it will last and be a good investment in the long term.

A good EMR system should last about 20 years, or more if it is a stable company that keeps up with technology. Today, you can find many available patient filing systems for doctor offices, health care clinics, medical billing record keeping, and insurance companies. Keep in mind that you want to go with a system that will be around for a long time. You don’t want to have to keep changing EMR systems every time a new technology is developed, and you shouldn’t have to if you go with a company that is cutting edge and adapts their product to the technologies and medical laws.

College Opportunities for Everyone

Posted on May 24th, 2010 in Conditions and Diseases by NewsCrawler

We have a son who born 9 weeks prematurely, he has struggled since he was a very small child with learning disabilities, ADHD, social issues, and just overall in almost every aspect of his life.  Life is just difficult for this child.  His life dream is to graduate college and become a Game Designer.  We have wondered over the years if this is just a dream or possibly a reality.  He is our fourth child and as such has watched his older brothers and sister move off to college after high school graduation and pursue degrees in the fields they are passionate about.

Exploring online recently I found a college in Florida that specializes in students with learning disabilities.  Beacon College was started by a group of parents who were concerned about higher education for their own students with learning disabilities.  The school is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and can award Associate of Arts and Bachelor degrees.

We were thrilled to have stumbled onto their site and will continue to research the college.  We hope to visit there soon as our son is a Junior in High School to determine if this might be the perfect fit for him.  It is hard to see a child bright eyed and full of dreams and goals for his life only to hit road blocks everywhere he turns.  I hope this might be the silver lining we have been looking for so he might continue on with his dreams and aspirations and live the life he was meant to live. We all have passions and dreams and nothing is better than to help a child find theirs.

Options For Regaining Financial Footing

Posted on March 14th, 2010 in Health and Wellness Products by NewsCrawler

Over the last year or more there have been a growing number of people that have been faced with foreclosure and who in some cases have been forced to put their home up for sale. Due to a job loss, divorce, or other loss of income the number of bankruptcies and foreclosures has gone up in Utah. While the housing market collapse has affected every state throughout the nation Utah foreclosures have hit record numbers as homeowners came to realize that they had purchased more house than they could actually afford to live in.

As the nations unemployment rate rose above 10% a large number of Utahans felt the economic pinch and soon realized that they could no longer keep up on their debts. While some homeowners looked into filing a Utah bankruptcy to alleviate their crushing debt, other people looked at how to escape their financial worries by selling their home before the banks could take control of it and destroy their credit standing.

The real estate market has grown in the number of Utah short sales as concerned homeowners are working with banks and lenders to escape the mortgage payments that they can no longer afford. For people that are faced with a financial crisis and are considering all of their options there are resources that can help them to navigate these troubled times and do what is best for their financial recovery–as with any stressful situation finding someone that can help makes facing the challenges of bankruptcy or foreclosure easier to handle.

The Main Differences Between Traditional Liposuction and Ultrasound Liposuction

Posted on February 27th, 2010 in Health and Wellness by NewsCrawler

If you are frustrated that diet and exercise are simply not yielding the results you want, it may be time to consider body contouring through the use of liposuction. Liposuction has been a popular procedure for over 30 years, but advances in less invasive medical technology have enabled cosmetic surgeons to provide superior results with fewer complications and side effects. Here are some of the main differences between traditional (or tumescent) liposuction and ultrasound liposuction (UAL) to help you be better informed when you visit your cosmetic surgeon for a consultation.

The most common targeted areas for liposuction are the abdomen, love handles, thighs, and the upper back. Although both tumescent and ultrasound procedures will work effectively on these areas, ultrasound liposuction is a much gentler process so it is more versatile. For this reason UAL is a much better choice for delicate places such as the chin, upper arms, inner thighs, and even the neck.

With traditional liposuction, a cannula is inserted into or near the targeted area. That cannula injects the area with a saline solution and other liquids, and then is used to mechanically break up the fat cells for easier suction. The mechanical action required in traditional liposuction looks rather violent because so much force needs to be used: the result is possible tissue damage and bleeding.

With ultrasound liposuction, an ultrasound attachment on the cannula uses sound waves to literally liquefy the fat cells: no forceful mechanical action required. The liquefied fat combines with the saline solution and is easily extracted by the cannula. The results: less pain, less swelling, and less bruising than with the traditional method.

For more detailed information about the differences between tumescent liposuction and ultrasound liposuction and which one might be right for you, contact a good cosmetic surgeon.

Breast Augmentation Service in Orange County

Posted on February 26th, 2010 in Health and Wellness by NewsCrawler

Breast augmentation surgery obviously has the ability to improve the shape and size of a woman’s breasts. The reasons a woman would opt for breast augmentation vary: perhaps due to uneven breast sizes, sagging breasts due to weight loss or post-pregnancy, aging variables, or for the sheer cosmetic reason of wanting to improve shape or overall appearance. Breast cancer survivors might also undergo breast augmentation to gain social, emotional self-esteem.

Many medical centers nowadays offer this, and many more, types of treatments or procedures. If you are opting for breast augmentation- choose wisely because any surgical procedure will always pose a threat. When done poorly, these procedures may lead to complications such as bleeding, infection or capsular contracture which causes the tightening of scar tissue around the breast causing a woman’s breast to feel abnormally hard.

When looking for Breast augmentation in Orange County, look for Mira Aesthetic Medical Center. They do not only have professional and well trained surgeons to aid you in your operation, but this center also offers state of the art facilities and current operating procedures.

Is it safe? Mira Aesthetic Medical Center carefully examines a patient’s history and provides essential testing to determine a patient’s health problems or risk. A thorough discussion is provided and patients are also introduced to other options where necessary and if desired. They offer effective planning in order to deliver and achieve the desired shape of the breast. Patients are also given general instructions including taking certain vitamins and encourage education to give their patients the best outcome. They offer information regarding the elimination of certain drugs, like birth control pills in order to minimize the possibility of excess bleeding. Antibiotics may also be prescribed days before the surgery to prevent infection.

Don’t put your life in danger by going to an unlicensed or unreliable medical center. Know the background of your selection and be observant in finding a dedicated group of individuals to cater to your surgical needs.

What Does Perfection Look Like?

Posted on February 24th, 2010 in Health and Wellness by NewsCrawler

Have you ever heard the expression that nobody is perfect? While the term often refers to the emotional and mental capacities of a person it can also be applied to the physical condition of the human body. There are a number of people that believe that they are less than perfect or have a physical flaw that bothers them in some way. While their friends and family may accept them as they are, these people feel that if they could only change something in their physical appearance that they may be more attractive and closer to perfection.

Feeling that a physical imperfection is holding them back and is definitely contributing their level of self esteem a number of people seek out the skilled hands of plastic surgeons to sculpt their bodies and improve the areas of the body that they are not content with. In Kansas breast augmentation surgeries are as common as they are in Beverly Hills. Women undergoing a breast enhancement often find greater confidence and increased self esteem after surgery; other areas of the body that women are self conscious of are the belly, thighs, and hips that do not seem to be affected by exercise or diet. Just as in other regions of the country liposuction in Kansas is sought out by women that want to look and feel their best. In some cases men are also known to undergo a liposuction procedure to redefine their image and sculpt their physique.

While perfection is something that may be unattainable for some there are plenty of people throughout the country that are changing their physical appearance and effectively altering their inner sense of self as they strive for the perfect combination of mind and body.

Safely Removing Your Oil Tank

Posted on February 24th, 2010 in Health and Wellness Products by NewsCrawler

Winters where I live can be snowy, cold, and wet.  In fact, this winter has been one of the coldest on record.  Temperatures have plummeted well below freezing, creating slick roads and cold houses.  During these few bitter cold months I’ve come to appreciate one appliance more than any other in my house.  The furnace.  Whenever the cold seems to seep in from the windows and doors, there is no sound I love more than the dull roar of the furnace coming to life.  It fights off the cold and keeps my house warm.  Although my furnace is powered by natural gas, many residential areas, particularly in the northeast United States, choose to use residential heating oil in place of gas.   Heating oil is usually delivered by tank truck and then stored in tanks located either above-ground in garages or basements or often below-ground in buried storage tanks.  One problem with older underground oil tanks is that they can begin to rust and corrode causing dangerous leaks that are hazardous to humans and the environment.

If you are a resident with an underground oil tank you think may be leaking, it is probably time to have it removed and replaced.  However, because of the hazards involved, it should only be done by professionals.  For residents of New Jersey, Environmental Management Associates or EMA is a company specializing in NJ oil tank removal.  With years of experience under their belt, EMA can safely remove your oil tank so it is no longer a danger to you or the environment.
