We recently moved into a new home, and have a lot of things still in boxes.  We’ve been married about twelve years, we have five children, and we have lived in a small home for most of that time.  One of the indications that we really needed to find a new home was when we no longer had any clear surfaces to keep all of the things we had accumulated over the years.  That, and the fact that we only had two bedrooms for the seven of us.  That worked for the kids when they were little, but now that they were growing up, our older children needed their own rooms.  We did some hunting and found an amazing home that suits all of our needs.  We should be here for many years to come.

 We have more than enough room for everything here, but with everything still in boxes, we realized that rather than unpack it all, we would like to keep it at a self storage facility and fill our new home with newer things.  We still want to keep those things, and so for the time being, throwing them away is out of the question.  After we got everything moved from one house to the other, we pulled all of the boxes we wanted in self storage in Milton into the garage and then began loading them into the back of our truck and moving them to the storage facility.  We took our time and went through the boxes a bit to make sure there wasn’t anything we had an immediate need for before we sent them away, and then made sure we organized them in the storage unit so we could access any of them with very little difficulty.

 I have had to make a few trips to the unit to get some books, and some of my wife’s tools got sent there by mistake, but we were able to grab those things very easily.  Our self storage facility has high security and climate controls, so we can rest assured that our things are both safe and sound.  As such, we have started the very fun and somewhat expensive task of filling our new home with new things.  I expect that in the coming years, some of these things will end up in self storage as well, and if they do, we know right where to keep them.

I grew up in Salt Lake County, however, I think I am a Utah County boy.  I have lived in Utah County now ever since I turned eighteen, that is, except for the two years I served my mission and the three summers I did sales jobs in other states.  I originally moved to Utah County when I started at Brigham Young University.  I enjoyed it very much and when I got married, we lived nearby in Orem.  After graduation, I knew I wanted to live a little further north, however, I felt I wanted to stay in South of the Point of the Mountain.  We have now lived in Lehi for several years and love it.  We are not ones who like to stay on one place for too long, however, we have discussed how much we like Utah County.  Our last move was a year ago and me moved just one mile from a townhome to a house.  We asked the assistance of the Elders from our church to put on their Utah movers hat, and we are very grateful. 

To return the favor, I have volunteered my time and service in helping others load and unload their moving trucks.  The only thing that I have learned my lesson not to touch is that of moving a piano.  Fortunately, in one of my previous neighborhoods I became friends with a man that owns a piano moving company.  They have special rollers and equipment that enables them to do the job right without risking anyone back.
