Advertising Techniques That Will Help Your Atlanta Business Get Noticed

Posted on February 25th, 2010 in Hair Care by NewsCrawler

If you own an Atlanta business, you know that you must always keep on the cutting edge of new advertising media and technologies if you want to stay in the game during these tough economic times. Here are some of the most effective techniques for getting noticed right here, right now.

Social Network Pages: If you don’t have a Fan page on Facebook yet, get one! You can give away coupons for freebies on these pages and get your name noticed in a hurry. If you make your page interesting enough and fun enough, word will spread faster than you ever imagined. Although Facebook is the most popular, you should also make advertising and marketing efforts on Twitter and many of the other hot social networking sites.

Video Advertising: Web users love to be entertained as they browse: so making promotional videos is a great way to get noticed too. Atlanta video advertising is extremely effective if it is done right. First of all, don’t make users wade through YouTube to find your video: there are plenty of other great venues for hosting your video such as OSeeIt.com. Make your video funny and innovative: it doesn’t have to be super-professionally produced, but it should be interesting and engaging. Bottom line: no one watches a boring video. No one.

Pay Per Click: This is an oldie but goodie, and it still works! Pay per click (PPC) ads show up on the right hand side of a search engine results page and are an easy way for potential customers to find your specific business and get there with one click. You only pay for the ad whenever someone clicks on it, so it is cost-effective too. Just make sure your landing page is compelling enough to convert lookers into buyers.

You can get through tough economic times and come out smelling like a rose if you continue to advertise and market your business effectively.

Some Things to Consider When Choosing a Shelter Dog

Posted on February 11th, 2010 in Hair Care by NewsCrawler

The old adage “A dog is a man’s best friend” really is true! Studies show that people who own pets such as dogs and cats have lower blood pressure and are better able to handle the stressors that come into their lives. Whether you want a dog in Carlsbad, or if you are a San Diego resident looking for a new best friend, it’s hard to beat the love you’ll get when you adopt a pet from the San Diego Humane Society and SPCA.  Here are some things to consider when choosing a shelter dog.

Lifestyle

Many people do not realize that different dogs have different needs: but what all dogs have in common is a need for human contact. When choosing a shelter dog, remember that he should spend most of his time indoors with his family. A dog that is left outside 24/7 may become destructive and will be terribly unhappy for want of contact with his beloved humans. Make sure you have plenty of time to give to a dog and that the size and breed of dog you take home suits your individual lifestyle. A Border Collie or Lab, for example, will need plenty of exercise and stimulation; if you are more of a “couch potato,” get a small lap dog or a sedentary big one such as a Great Dane.

Shedding

Keep in mind that many breeds of dogs shed, and that fur will definitely go everywhere in your home! If shedding is a big issue for you, choose non-shedding breeds such as double-coated terriers, poodles, and first-generation labradoodles. Shed-free does not mean allergy-free, however. So if allergies are a problem in your home, proceed with caution.

Small Children

Many dogs are not good with small children, so make sure you consult with a shelter professional who will help you make a wise choice.

Purebred vs. Mutt

Many shelter dogs are mixed breeds, and these pets make as good if not better pets as their purebred counterparts. Mutts tend to take the best traits from the breeds he comes from, and they are less prone to breed-specific health issues. All shelter dogs are spayed and neuter in any case, so whether or not a dog is purebred is moot.

Bringing a shelter dog home is like adopting another child: so choose carefully, and choose wisely.

Bringing Water To The Desert

Posted on February 11th, 2010 in Hair Care by NewsCrawler

Service industries have found a home under the warm sun of the Phoenix skyline. Companies like American Express, Honeywell Aerospace, PetSmart, Bank of America, Cox Communications, GoDaddy.com, P.F. Changs China Bistro and many other nationally recognized corporations make their headquarters in Phoenix or have a significant operation in the capitol city and employ hundreds of thousands of people. As a result Phoenix real estate continues to expand new construction projects out into the desert that offers ample room for the continuing growth of the city.

The resulting construction has led to a boom in the industrial services of HVAC, electrical and plumbing contractors that keep the utilities running in the metropolitan homes and business of the more than 1.5 million people that call Phoenix home. With all of the new construction and available homes for sale there is a real need for the professional services of trained trades workers. Because Phoenix is located in the middle of a desert the need for proper irrigation, water treatment and plumbing services can keep an area plumber in Phoenix busy throughout the year. Even without the threat of a burst pipe in the winter from a frozen pipe the number of plumbers working around the clock is staggering.

Bringing water into the desert is a vital service that takes dedicated professionals to engineer the network of pipes that deliver the natural resource to the residents of one of Americas fastest growing regions. Between the industrial complexes, corporate headquarters, commercial real estate development, and residential homes and apartment complexes a plumber in Phoenix may have to keep running from one job to another to keep up with demands of the ever expanding city.

The Bus: Making Family Memories

Posted on February 11th, 2010 in Hair Care by NewsCrawler

For many years when I was growing up, our family vehicle was an old 1970s vintage VW hippie bus.  In its original colors it was a two-toned brown with cream highlights, but later my Dad had it painted a hideous metallic green.  “The Bus,” as we lovingly referred to it, was our family caravan.  Every summer mom and dad would occupy the driver and passenger seats while all the kids would pile into the back of the bus and head down south for six hundred miles, usually to visit grandma in the arid desert town where she lived.  We’d bring a stack of books, coloring books, crossword puzzles, and word games in order to occupy our wandering and easily bored minds.  The bus had the capacity to seat seven passengers, but sometimes my mom would set up a small mattress in the back cargo space for kids who needed a nap.  Since this was before the days of careful studies of seat belt safety and enforced seat belt laws, nobody minded and every kid wanted to be the one to sit in the back.  That bus was the beloved by all and it was the transportation for all of our family road trips.

If you are a resident of Georgia looking to make your own family memories in a bus or if you’re just looking to transport several passengers, Taylor Bus can help.  Specializing in Atlanta bus sales, Taylor Bus has a huge selection of buses of all sizes and shapes, from passenger vans to school buses.

Safely Removing Your Oil Tank

Posted on January 28th, 2010 in Hair Care by NewsCrawler

Winters where I live can be snowy, cold, and wet.  In fact, this winter has been one of the coldest on record.  Temperatures have plummeted well below freezing, creating slick roads and cold houses.  During these few bitter cold months I’ve come to appreciate one appliance more than any other in my house.  The furnace.  Whenever the cold seems to seep in from the windows and doors, there is no sound I love more than the dull roar of the furnace coming to life.  It fights off the cold and keeps my house warm.  Although my furnace is powered by natural gas, many residential areas, particularly in the northeast United States, choose to use residential heating oil in place of gas.   Heating oil is usually delivered by tank truck and then stored in tanks located either above-ground in garages or basements or often below-ground in buried storage tanks.  One problem with older underground oil tanks is that they can begin to rust and corrode causing dangerous leaks that are hazardous to humans and the environment.

If you are a resident with an underground oil tank you think may be leaking, it is probably time to have it removed and replaced.  However, because of the hazards involved, it should only be done by professionals.  For residents of New Jersey, Environmental Management Associates or EMA is a company specializing in NJ oil tank removal.  With years of experience under their belt, EMA can safely remove your oil tank so it is no longer a danger to you or the environment.

The Difficulties of Searching for a Job after College

Posted on January 16th, 2010 in Hair Care by NewsCrawler

Searching for a job has always been a challenge for me, partly because I don’t think I was meant to be an employee. I like being my own boss.  Before graduation from college, I began working as an independent contractor for a financial services firm.  this was a good fit for me because I was able to control everything about my job.  I chose my hours, who I worked with, and what  I did during the day.

I did this for five years and loved it, but financially it was a struggle.  One month I would earn twelve thousand dollars and the next, zero.  After a while I determined that I needed to obtain some secure employment, and build a business on the side.  One challenge is my resume.  I had to create on from scratch because I never needed one working for myself.  It was also a challenge finding a job that paid well.  I used different resources just to come up with the list of my prospects. I scanned pages on daily newspapers, surfed through the internet and even asked some relatives and friends. Unfortunately, all my efforts were in vain. From that time on, I thought to myself that luck wasn’t on my side. But, I also realized that I might have been too picky. There were situations where I almost had a job but then I refused because of the decrease in pay or the lousy work environment.   It was never easy for me because I am the type of person who doesn’t want to settle for something. I really wanted a job that would be right for my qualifications and my experiences.

I then learned about one of the employment agencies in Salt Lake City. I figured it was worth a shot and arranged an interview.  It was surprisingly simple, in that I only had to interview once, and could apply for multiple jobs.  Granted, the interview was very thorough.  In the end, I was able to find a great sales position that matched my skills, as well as allowed me plenty of room for growth.

Plan Ahead Financially to Replace Trees in your Yard

Posted on January 15th, 2010 in Hair Care by NewsCrawler

I thought I would spread the word so that people can avoid huge penalties for cutting down a tree in your yard without a permit.  Yes, you heard that correctly, the city of Atlanta requires you to get a permit, often at a high cost for you to remove a tree even from your own yard.  The reason behind this is to keep Atlanta green.  The guidelines make sure that if you are to eliminate trees and don’t replace them, the money you pay the city goes toward the costs for them to plant more trees.  You can reduce your costs by replanting trees yourself.  The purchase of trees can be quite costly though, because planting seeds doesn’t meet their requirement.

This is what they require.  You need to pay one hundred dollars for every tree you cut down, plus thirty dollars for every inch of diameter that is not replaced.  For example, if you cut down a tree with a trunk that is ten inches in diameter and do not replace it, you would need to pay four hundred dollars for a permit to do so; One hundred for the tree itself, and three hundred for the ten inches in diameter.  If you replaced the tree with a smaller tree, say a tree four inches in diameter, you would need to pay one hundred and eight dollars plus the cost of the new tree.

Most people utilize an Atlanta tree removal service that can do all the work for you, help you obtain the permits you need, and can provide you discounts when you purchase new trees.

Advertise to Get the Right Employee

Posted on December 23rd, 2009 in Hair Care by NewsCrawler

Although we have not found many “right places to advertise,” they may include trade or industry magazines that you’re reasonably sure are read by the candidates you’re seeking. Sometimes the local newspaper can be a good source for candidates, but be prepared to kiss a lot of toads to find the prince. Likewise, some have reported success with national publications such as The Wall Street Journal and the National Employment Weekly, and others report good results by advertising on the internet. Choose the outlets best for you. Remember: If you hire an out-of-town candidate, you will be expected to pay for moving expenses!

The hiring of a candidate assumes that you have carefully and thoroughly considered your own employees as a source. You must not overlook current employee candidates! Study the background and work history of those who might qualify. You may not be aware or have forgotten that one of them has all of the qualities that you are hunting for in the new position.

Many businesses post job openings on the employee bulletin boards. I believe this is a good practice. It’s quite common to contract for a temporary employee only to find that the temp is the right person for the job on a permanent basis and may be available. In this case, you should be prepared to pay a fee to the employment agencies in Salt Lake City. This is a reasonably good way to hire clerical and lower-level technical personnel and it keeps your business moving while you’re continuing your search.

A referral from a friend, a business associate or a present employee whose judgment you respect is a valid basis for pursuing a candidate. Note that your friend must be more than a golfing buddy; you must respect his judgment as you would a trusted associate.
