How Do You Know If She is Flirting?

Posted on May 25th, 2009 in Interactive by NewsCrawler

If you watch classic movies like I do you might notice the female lead turn slightly to look over her shoulder and bat her eyelashes to make sure the man she is avoiding is interested and she knows he is interested. I have not seen many women batting eyelashes to draw attention to them selves these days. It seems that flirting has changed since stars like Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Rita Heyworth, Gene Harlow, and Betty Davis dawned the silver screen. Those women had style, grace and beauty and they knew how play to the camera with innocent flirtations and pouting lips. I do not see women today batting their lashes to gain the attention of the men they want to attract, but there is still something about a woman with long luscious eyelashes that men are attracted to.

Eyelash extensions are a part of the glamorous makeup that a woman puts on when she wants to go out on the town. When a date requires dressing up for the evening women use eyelash extensions to accentuate their eyes and drive their dates into a state of frenzy.

Just a small accessory to the beauty of makeup, eyelash extensions and mascara give women long beautiful lashes. In Austin, Texas eyelash extensions are very popular.

Gone may be the days when a woman would turn and bat her lashes to let you know she is interested, but here to stay are the long beautiful lashes that beautiful women adorn and men long for.

New Puppy Gear

Everyone loves bringing home that new puppy to be part of their families. But puppies need a lot of gear to be comfortable and happy while living in your home, and you’ll probably want some items to help that puppy adjust to your home as well. While you’ll need some comfort items, you’ll also need training and feeding items as well. Here is a short list of things you should have when you are ready to bring your puppy home.

You’ll need some simple things that will keep your puppy happy. Remember that he or she has been with its mother up until the point you bring him or her home, so be sensitive to the fact that your puppy might need some comfort in the way of soft pillows and blankets.

You’ll also need identification for your new puppy. This means purchasing a collar that has your dog’s name and your phone number on it as well, should your puppy ever get lost. It’s a good idea to have a leash as well, so that you can get started right away with good walking habits.

Finally, you’ll need some training tools, such as a crate for crate training or puppy pads for house breaking. Puppy pads are a great way to start your training. You may want to also purchase treats of some sort to reward your new puppy for the hard work he or she is doing while training and becoming adjusted to its new surroundings. You’ll find that your dog is a integral part of your family in no time.

Off Roading in Style: Global Expedition Vehicles

Posted on May 22nd, 2009 in Things to Buy by NewsCrawler

I have a new vision for my retirement years. I always thought my golden years would be spent in a rocking chair knitting some pointless scarf or afghan. But now I have seen the light. Have you ever heard of an expedition camper? This isn’t your grandpa’s motor home. It’s extreme. These campers are designed to traverse mountains and drive down gulches, all with the luxury and convenience of a regular motor home.

The company is called Global Expedition Vehicles. They sell pretty much jus that. Their website takes to you to photos of four wheeled campers going to extremes in extreme locations around the world. So now I see myself in forty years with the husband not sitting quietly in a house but rocking the Himalayas with a chassis big enough to haul ten horses.

Global Expedition Vehicles has a great slogan, “You’ll run out of world long before you’ll run out of truck”. I seem to believe that based on the sheer artillery look these expedition vehicles have. I didn’t even know such a market existed. Now I can’t wait to get out there and try one out. Every expedition vehicle is totally self contained and has a large fuel supply so you don’t have to stop every ten minutes to fill up. Global Expedition Vehicles also touts its wares are being “umbilical cord free” meaning you don’t have to plug into an out let to generate power or run water. These campers are truly self-sufficient road beasts and I can’t wait to try one out.

The Moving Ordeal

Posted on May 22nd, 2009 in Tips and Tricks by NewsCrawler

Moving to a new apartment or home is a source of dread to just about any normal person; gathering moving boxes, sorting and packing, throwing away inessentials, finding creative ways to get big furniture through the door and onto the moving truck, which can be like a college geometry quiz. Nothing about the moving process is enjoyable and you are pretty much guaranteed an injury or two.

But, by far, the worst part of moving is discovering you have too much stuff to fit into your new space. What do you do? Donate it to a thrift store? Find a spot in dad’s garage? Give it to a friend? Perhaps the easiest option is renting a storage unit. A storage unit can be a safe and secure way to keep your belongings safe.

Town and Country Movers’ storage spaces provide residents of Maryland with that kind of safety and security. Among other services that include residential, commercial, and even international moving, Town and Country Movers offer storage in their over 60,000 square feet of warehouse space, which is secured by video surveillance at all times. The facility is protected by fire and security systems and is staffed by reliable and trustworthy employees. They also offer Maryland residents a temperature-controlled warehouse secured with the latest in security technology. Town and Country Movers, a family owned company, has been operating successfully since 1977.

Though moving isn’t exactly fun, it doesn’t have to be an ordeal. Finding a safe and reliable place to store your belongings can alleviate a lot of the stress caused by the move.

Most men appreciate a fine watch. A great looking wristwatch on a man is like the right necklace or pair of earrings on a woman. It is the accessory that completes the ensemble. In fact, that image is portrayed again and again with the release of each new James Bond film. Bond is never seen without a fine wristwatch and sometimes it even doubles as a weapon. That image has helped portray the wristwatch as a symbol of suave and sophisticated machismo.

Before World War I, only women wore wristwatches; they were considered feminine. However, soldiers in the Great War used wristwatches because they needed to keep their hands free and still have access to their watches. These first wristwatches, descended from pocket watches, were large and bulky. As time progressed, wristwatches became more fashionable and more precise and compact. The first electric watches were invented in the 1950s, but the real revolution in watches came with the invention of quartz watches. Today, watches can be highly specialized for all types of occupations and situations, including space travel and scuba diving.

Since fine watch making is such a precise and difficult art, some of the most high end watch makers produce only a few thousand a year. Many of these watch makers, such as the British watchmaker Arnold & Son, have been in the business for hundreds of years. Other watch makers building high end state-of-the-art timepieces, such as the German company Buben and Zorweg, began in the late 20th century. Shortly after it was founded in 1995 by two school friends, Buben and Zorweg began setting industry standards in watch winders. Because of the quality and skill that goes into the production of these watches, the annual production numbers are low.

Since World War I, the wristwatch has become an essential male accessory. Whatever the occasion, a fine wristwatch on man is the final touch of sophistication.

The Patron Saint of Mexico

Posted on May 19th, 2009 in Things to Buy by NewsCrawler

In Catholicism, a patron saint is an important part of religion and worship. A patron saint is an advocate or intercessor in heaven who intercedes for their special charges, which might be a nation, a person, a place, occupations, activities, or a class of people. Because they have already transcended and gone to heaven, it is believed that they can intercede with God for the needs of those who pray to them.

For Mexican Catholics, the most celebrated patron saint is Our Lady of Guadalupe, the patron saint of Mexico. Our Lady of Guadalupe is a celebrated Marian apparition, the Virgin Mary, who is said to have appeared to St. Juan Diego near Mexico City in the 1500s. According to official accounts, Juan Diego saw a vision of a teenage girl, fifteen or sixteen, surrounded by light. He recognized her as the Virgin Mary. She asked that a church in her honor be built on the Hill of Tepeyac. When Juan Diego recounted this to his bishop, the bishop asked for a sign. He went back and the Virgin Mary asked him to gather flowers, which she arranged in his cloak. The image of the Virgin of Guadalupe miraculously appeared on the cloak.

The symbol of the Virgin of Guadalupe is one of great significance to Mexican Catholics. She is considered the Patroness of the Americas. For Catholics who wish to have a physical reminder and symbol of the Virgin of Guadalupe, sterling silver medals are available as well as statues and pictures. For Mexican Catholics, a sterling silver medal or image of the Virgin of Guadalupe can be a source of great comfort and faith.

A New Focus on Being Green

Posted on May 19th, 2009 in Tips and Tricks by NewsCrawler

Just recently I was reading an article about a woman in Kansas who line dries all of her clothing. She doesn’t even own a clothing dryer and she has air dried her family’s clothing to save costs for years. And that was probably before all of the recent focus on energy saving. It got me thinking about ways that I could cut all energy costs that accumulate when it comes to my clothing. How can I be more Green?

Research has shown the greatest eco-burden from clothing is in their use, specifically the laundering. Washing can involve large quantities of water, chemicals, and a lot of energy for drying. The woman in Kansas had it right. The biggest eco-burden is in the drying. A cold wash and a line dry are the best ways to launder green clothing.

Another way to save cost and energy is buying clothing that will last. This refers to not only buying clothes you will want to wear years from now but in selecting materials and components that will last. For example, choosing buttons over snaps may cut costs because buttons are more easily repairable. Anyone can pull out a needle and thread and with a little effort, repair something that might otherwise have been replaced in the past.

Also, the source of materials may be a concern. There are several clothing manufacturers that make clothing out of recycled and sustainable materials instead of manufactured cottons or other synthetic materials. I don’t have to put a solar panel on my house to be environmentally conscious. There are small things that can be done to make a big difference.
