A Community for Pet Lovers

Posted on May 30th, 2009 in Things to Buy by NewsCrawler

One thing is clear: pets are more than just “animals.” A pet does not simply serve a practical purpose or become a beautiful decoration in the background of someone’s life, but rather, a pet becomes a part of the family. Most of you pet lovers would agree that your pets improve the quality of your life, and in turn, you want to improve theirs.

Owning a pet, however, is not always a walk in the park. Difficulties can arise from day one: what breed do I want? what food should I use? where do I go for the best price and quality for pet accessories? or what should I do if something seems wrong with my pet? Such questions can be frustrating and not easily solved.

At petomundo.com, pet lovers are able to come together as a community with shared interests. Frustrating questions can be discussed with other members of the community and you can receive a variety of useful information from other pet lovers. Plus, you can shop for accessories and even pets right on the website!

Not only does petomundo.com help by providing a community of shared knowledge and access to needed accessories, it provides a valuable resource for finding legitimate pet charities that help improve the lives of those pets who have not yet found a loving home like yours.

For pet lovers, the question is not should I help, but how, and petomundo.com feels the same way about trying to make a difference for homeless pets. They provide a safe and secure way for pet lovers to help pets in need. Petomundo.com is not just a website; it is a place where pet lovers can come together to get help, and to help as well.

Two Options for Spray Foam Insulation

Posted on May 29th, 2009 in Interactive by NewsCrawler

One of the major concerns when building a home is making sure that the home is insulated properly so that heating and cooling systems can operate at optimal efficiency. This cuts costs for the homeowner and also conserves precious energy.

It used to be that the standard of home insulation was fiberglass. However, fiberglass has the potential for dangerous airborne fibers that can be harmful to humans and the environment. In recent years, a more popular option for home insulation is spray foam insulation. There are several different types of spray foam insulation. One of those options is Phenolic spray foams.

Phenolic compounds were first synthesized in the form of Bakelite. A popular type of Phenolic spray foam is TriPolymer. In 1975 TriPolymer products, with the assistance of the United States Department of Energy, were expanded and refined. Because of the durability, structural integrity, and unusual fire resistance of the foam, the Department of Energy deemed further research into the foams as being in the national interest. The foam is considered environmentally safe and one of the most thermal efficient options. Phenolic foams have been used by a variety of organizations and institutions including NASA, the U.S. Military, hospitals, schools, and thousands of residential homes.

Another popular spray foam option is cementitious foam. This foam is non-hazardous, non-toxic even during application, and fire resistant. It is made from a combination of magnesium oxide, cement, and air. It is mold proof, insect resistant, and does not shrink or settle. Cementitious foam is blown in with air, not harmful blowing agents.

Both of these foams are safe and efficient ways to make sure a home is insulated properly, which will save costs and improve energy conservation.

Moving is Easy?

Posted on May 29th, 2009 in Tips and Tricks by NewsCrawler

Moving is a pain. Everything about it is inconvenient. There are never enough boxes on hand, I can never remember where I packed my toothbrush, and words can’t express how much I loved moving my entertainment center and cinder blocks up to my second-story apartment. In the last four years, I’ve had seven moves, and I’m currently planning my eighth. Whether I’m moving 2,000 miles across the country or to a neighboring complex, I have always used the same moving strategy: stuff as much of my stuff as possible in my white Pontiac and go. Unfortunately, this moving approach has not always been effective. In my haste and irritation, I never pack well, and my belongings–including my favorite shelves and books–have been damaged.

After my last move, I swore I would never move again without help–and finding help isn’t has hard as I thought it would be. In Boston, moving services such as Brookline Moving Co., offer fabulous services to help people move, no matter where you’re going. Aside from moving and packaging services, they provide storage in Boston to keep belongings safe until your ready to move them. The services that companies like Brookline Moving Co. provide are definitely worth looking into, especially if you, like me, want to actually look forward to your move instead of pulling your hair out at the thought of it. Hiring a mover in Boston is easy and worth every penny. Now, nothing’s stopping me from starting my collection of 16-pound bowling balls.

Helping HR: Interim Recruiting Services

Posted on May 29th, 2009 in Things to Buy by NewsCrawler

The person who automatically comes to mind when I hear the term “Human Resources” is Toby from NBC’s The Office, Michael Scott’s nemesis and the one HR representative responsible for keeping the anything but PC organization in line. Aside from that association, I’ve also had my fair share of real-world experience with HR. I’ve applied and interviewed for jobs, feeling the pressure of having to make it through HR before going any further. And I’ve met up again with HR when going through job training and discussing my paychecks.

In reality, The Office’s Toby is a poor example of what HR does. When a company considers Human Resource staffing, they have to consider much more than if the person can keep order in the office or not. And contrary to Toby’s character–a reclusive and dispassionate individual–an HR worker has to be savvy and confident in almost all aspects of business and communication.

While Human Resources helps ensure that everything in the office runs smoothly, facilitates communication between employer and employee, and takes care of hiring, sometimes its staffing HR itself that becomes tricky. Often, positions in HR are open for only temporary periods of time, making hiring difficult as many qualified and competent candidates are looking for full-time employment, not temporary contract work.

Luckily, there are options. Aside from traditional hiring procedures, Human Resources staffing can actually be taken care of through a company like Continuiti which specializes in nationwide interim HR staffing. The benefits of using a company like Continuiti include access to the best candidates in the country. All of their candidates have 5 to 20 years of corporate/professional HR experience, and using an interim recruiter can save a company thousands of dollars–not bad for a department in charge of keeping people happy.

It’s undeniable that the HR department of any company is important–they smooth the waters, recruit, train, communicate, coach, project organize, and–of course–hire. But sometimes those hiring services need a boost to fill in employment gaps, so it’s great that interim recruiting services are now available to help.

Crossing Boundaries

Posted on May 28th, 2009 in Things to Buy by NewsCrawler

Each day we encounter people in our lives that for some reason or another, don’t relate to use well. As a parent, it could be your child, as a business professional, it could be an employee. Whatever the reasons, we simply don’t connect with every person we come across each day. Yet, we need to bridge those gaps of differences to find a way to interact with these people. How can you find ways to make connections with people that you feel you have nothing in common with or don’t agree with?

First, as a leader, you need to understand that you need all of the components of your work and life to work together for the best result. That means that when you have a big project at work, you need all workers functioning properly, even the ones that you don’t necessarily connect with. Any nfl speaker will tell you that it is impossible for a football team to win without all of its members functioning together as one. It is that harmony that binds the team and grooms it for success.

So as a leader, it is important that you look past the differences you have with the other people in your life. Forge relationships based on a desire for the greater good, rather than shallow aspects. When people see you working towards something, they’ll want to contribute, and you’ll break those boundaries.

A Familiar Face in the Postal Uniform

Posted on May 27th, 2009 in Things to Buy by NewsCrawler

On my way out to our mailbox this afternoon, I remembered something about one of my former bosses that I haven’t really thought about for a few years. I worked for a telemarketing company while I was in college. During that time, one of my supervisors decided to leave his job with us and become a postal worker. The only reason I could think of switching careers would be higher pay, but it turns out there were many reasons. He was excited that this job would allow him to get fresh air and sunshine each day as he walked around the city. When he said that, I remember thinking just how boring it gets sitting in the same stuffy office space that is either too hot in the winter or too cold in the summer. No matter the season, it was like I had to dress for the opposite of the weather outside.
When he first told me, I thought it sounded a little weird to think of him walking down the street in his postal uniform delivering the mail each day. This was a guy that I’d gotten to know in a very competitive sales-driven environment. He would coach me on ways I could make more sales and in return earn larger bonuses. Now, he’d be wearing the classic postal uniform of navy and gray, walking down the street with a large bag full of envelopes. Perhaps he’d have a dog or two chasing him along his route. If he discovered that he loses the races the the dogs more often than he wins them, he can go to www.usuniforms.com to buy a new postal uniform. If he’s still a postal worker, I’m sure he’s had plenty of experiences over the years that gave him the chance to update his wardrobe. I haven’t seen him since his last day but, it never really occurred to me until this afternoon, that maybe one of these days I’ll see him delivering my mail.

Need a fun game fast? Try the Cornhole Game!

Posted on May 27th, 2009 in Tips and Tricks by NewsCrawler

My family usually has a reunion every summer. This is usually a large event with food and fun games for the entire extended family including grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and their families. It is fun to get together and catch up on everything that has happened to each other since the last reunion while we gobble down the potluck picnic everyone has supplied us with. Probably the most difficult thing is what to do for activities. It’s sometimes hard to compromise on games that will keep the little children entertained and be something adults will take part in as well. We’ve done water games, relay races and many more.
I just learned about a new game called the Cornhole Game. You can read more about it at oreboards.com. It is a bean bag tossing game that originated in Ohio and you compete in teams to see who will earn the most points by tossing their bean bags in the hole on the end of the board. This is simple enough that it can be fun for all ages. I can just picture my little nephew trying to battle my dad for the winning spot. It doesn’t take a lot of set up and the boards are available to buy right over the internet. This is just another idea for fun games to play not just at reunions, but whenever you have people over and want a fun activity to do.

Inspect your Home Inspector

Posted on May 26th, 2009 in Things to Buy by NewsCrawler

I am always amazed with the amount of work to be done and information to know when purchasing a home. It’s really a very emotional thing to do, as much as you try not to make it be. Those darn emotions can sometimes take me on rides I should never accept to go on. I figure that if I at least learn from them and triumphantly move forward, then maybe they are good mistakes afterall.

But when it comes to purchasing real estate you have to be willing to put emotions aside and let a trained professional (who is emotionally unattached by the way) evaluate whether the home is in good standing condition or not. If you’re a first time homeowner, maybe you have not yet learned what a good inspector can do for you. If you have bought multiple homes, you may be just realizing the need for a good inspector. Some are inadequate communicator’s, look over important steps, and are not certified with additional inspection requirements.

If you are seeking New York home inspections, Frank Torre with Torre Real Estate is eminently qualified. He offers clear reporting and is respected by many clients and students. If you are going to be spending so much money for an inspection, then get it right the first time with Frank Torre’s thorough investigation of your commercial or residential property. Missing something even seemingly minor in your home inspection could cost you in the future. He conveniently offers a sample report and inspection overview on his website so you can be prepared with what to expect.

In your critical decision of choosing the right home, be sure to choose the right inspector who can provide you with a reliable inspection.

We’ve all been through the hassle of having to file an insurance claim. On an individual basis its not so complicated. But take it to a business level and we’re talking a whole new set of complications and hoops to jump through. I’ve been doing a little research on the best way to get help with insurance claims in a business. I’ve found Kinsel Accountancy Corporation. They handle forensic accounting and specialize in business insurance claims in the Los Angeles area.

I own a small business and have yet not had the misfortune of having to file any insurance claims. Because my business is so small, I probably could handle it on my own. But larger businesses would be much harder to manage. Kinsel analyzes and critique insurance claims. They can help any larger company with a variety of claims like business interruption, extra expense, fidelity and surety, property damage and fraud. Since Kinsel doesn’t work with reoccurring tax clients they have more time to devote to each case. This way every claim is dealt with efficiently and quickly. And in the business world time is money.

They provide companies with complete claims assistance. From initial estimates and evaluations to over all comprehensive support that help each company come to a quick and fair settlement, Kinsel Accountancy Corporation is with their clients for the whole process.
